The cottage / holiday home is ideally placed for holidays in Brittany offering easy access to both north and south coasts. The

which has two bars, a boulangerie (bakery), a bowling alley(albeit small), a hairdressers and a garage. At the larger village
of Caulnes (about 5 minutes drive) is a supermarket, boulangeries, chemist, bars restuarants etc. There is also a railway station. You can get
trains to Rennes from here. For more information on train travel see http://www.sncf.com/indexe.htm
The Hardouinais Forest is about 6 miles away and is ideal for walking, cycling, bird watching, fishing
and horse riding. In the forest is a lovely lake with a sandy beach which is safe for bathing and boating.
Adjacent to the lake is an excellent ‘Salon du The’ set in beautiful gardens.
Lanrelas is the next village along (3 miles) and offers a free open-air swimming pool, volley ball or
badminton courts set beside a river and arboretum which is great for walks. The very popular tourist
village of Jurgon Les Lacs is only a 15 minute drive from the house. Jurgon Les Lacs is situated around a large lake ideal
for sailing.
A visit to Dinan is a must. The ancient ramparts and castle, the narrow, cobbled streets and the
river port are delightful to walk around, browsing through the shops and restaurants. The Thursday market is extremely
popular all year round. Boats trips leave from the river in Dinan and travel to St Malo. The trip takes around 2 1/2 hours but it is an
ideal way to view the Breton countryside. The trip back from St Malo to Dinan is made by bus taking around 35-40 mins.
St Malo is well worth a visit. The outskirts are not so attractive but the old town is charming. you will be enchanted
by the place. The city walls were heavily bombed during WWII but they have been completely restored and you can
walk all the way around the old town atop them. Inside the walls there are a wide range of tourist shops
to be browsed and restaurants to be savoured. There are many nice beaches outside the city walls too. From Saint Malo you can take a ferry boat to Jersey and
Guernsey. It is possible to see the islands as daytrips if you rise early.
For beaches a visit to St Cast is recommended. There are seven impressive beaches and spectacular views from the
jagged cliff tops.
The north coast of Brittany has many great beaches but the south coast is also within easy reach. The Gulf Of
Morbihan is well worth a visit and is great for water sports. Carnac has lovely uncrowded beaches.
Benodet is a chic seaside resort, whilst Vannes is an impressive medieval city.
If you wish to try your hand at fishing or are already an experienced fisherman you can go fishing at a local
